Latino military veterans to be spotlighted in special Honor Hispano campaign

LatinaLista — According to the 2007 American Community Survey there were 1.1 million Latino veterans. There’s no denying that over the years Latino families, on both sides of the border, have sacrificed their husbands, wives, sons and daughters in uniform.

Yet, too many times, the nation forgets the kind of sacrifice that is made by these families. Well, for one week in November, we can all remember.
V-me television and Sears have teamed up together to honor Hispanic military families in the Honor Hispano tribute during the week of November 10-15.
During that week, special programming about Latino veterans will air on V-me. On the campaign’s web site, readers can leave special messages for their loved ones currently in the military or who have been discharged. The messages will air during V-me’s Viva Voz interview program.
In addition to sponsoring the Honor Hispano campaign, Sears was going to offer on their website a special Heroes at Home Wish Registry. How it works is military veterans and their families would register for needed items. In turn, others could purchase those items for them.
However, the Department of Defense has raised some concerns about the registry and so Sears has suspended it fro the time being. Yet, when it’s reactivated it will be a big help to military families during these tight economic times.
