United Farm Workers provide free downloadable calendar with New Year’s message — Se Se Puede!

LatinaLista — Did you know that calendars have pretty much been around since the dawn of humanity - give or take a few thousand years.
The start of any new year without one is like a bad omen or something.

These days, there's no excuse as to why you don't have a calendar. In addition to the hundreds available in stores and the computer software that lets you make your own, there are even some organizations giving them away as pdf files.
One that you might want to hang near your computer in 2009 is the calendar being distributed by United Farm Workers (UFW).
Fighting on behalf of migrant workers' rights, the UFW is remembered for their most well known leader, Cesar Chavez, originating the phrase "Se se puede."
Yet, their struggles have continued since Chavez' death and 2008 was a particularly hard year with more migrant workers dying in the fields during harvest time and the Bush Administration gutting farm workers' rights.
As a constant reminder to ourselves as to who picks our food so we may eat and that everyone deserves dignity in their jobs, download the free UFW calendar .
At first glance, you'll see who the UFW endorsed for president, but most importantly, you'll see the message of hope the organization wants to share with everyone.
