Viernes Video: Latino filmmaker creates new YouTube channel where women take the lead

Veteran Hollywood filmmaker Rodrigo Garcia (Albert Nobbs, In Treatment, Mother and Child) teamed up with his colleague Jon Avnet (Black Swan, Fried Green Tomatoes, Risky Business) to create a new digital network christened WIGS.

WIGS stands for Where it Gets Interesting and it’s a new YouTube channel featuring original scripted series, short films and documentaries — all with female leads.

Showcasing such actresses as America Ferrera, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen, Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Garner and a host of others, the series explores the “lives, loves and lies” of their characters which takes viewers on unpredictable and outrageous journeys.

Debuting May 14, 2012, WIGS’ creators promise new content every single weekday. The channel is also available in Spanish with Spanish subtitles on the films.
