Intrn’l Video: Poignant short, Elefante, creates a lasting lesson

LatinaLista — Even if the 9-minute Spanish short, “Elefante,” didn’t have English subtitles, the story is universal that simply the scenes and body language of the actors are enough to relay the story.

A father, invisible to his children, his wife and his employers, wants more out of life than the rut in which he finds
himself. He gets his wish when the doctor delivers a startling diagnosis. It’s a diagnosis that doesn’t just change his life but the relationships of all those close to him. It’s the kind of change that can alienate those around him but, as he finds out, can never break the bond between father and son.

Directed and written by Spaniard Pablo Larcuen, the short premiered in the 2012 Sitges Film Festival where it won the award for the Best International Short Film. It recently caught the attention of the Vimeo staff who chose it as a “Staff Pick.”
