Latin American flags coming to streetlights in Chicago’s Humboldt Park

CHICAGO — The twin Puerto Rican flags that bookend Division Street in Humboldt Park will soon be joined by steel flags from other Latin American countries.
“What they’re going to do is install these smaller flags on the streetlights between Campbell Avenue and Sacramento Avenue,” said Alejandro Riera, a spokesperson for the Puerto Rican Cultural Center (PRCC).

On Friday Ald. Roberto Maldonado and PRCC Executive Director Jose Lopez are expected to be joined by Latin American consul generals at Nellie’s Restaurant, 2458 W. Division St., at 10 a.m. to unveil plans for the installation of the new flags.
