Rock and pop-star wannabes invited to upload audition videos in new online talent contest

LatinaLista — If you caught the recent Oscars award show then you might remember Best Actress winner Kate Winslet’s acceptance speech where she envisioned her win many years ago — in her bathroom! The golden statue was a shampoo bottle!
Needless to say, there are many talented artists out there who dream of winning it big. Well, a new music contest can make that happen for some lucky band.

“Vive tu Musica with 5” is an online talent-search competition for amateur, unsigned rock and pop-star hopefuls. Five band finalists will perform with Latin Rock sensation Camila at the competition’s grand finale to be aired nationwide and one grand-prize winning band will receive an exclusive recording session with a top Latin music producer.

Viva tu Musica with 5 is sponsored by Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, the makers of 5 gum — hence, the title of the contest. From today through March 12, musicians entering the contest should upload their video auditions to the contest website.
From there, it’s up to the rest of us.

From March 21 – April 10, fans will cast votes online to help choose five finalists to perform with the Mexican group, Camila, at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., on April 30, and compete before a panel of celebrity judges to be named later. LATV, the nation’s first bilingual music/entertainment network distributed via digital multicast, will air the concert as part of a television special that will feature a behind-the-scenes look at the winning band.

For those of us who vote, we’ll be entered into a sweepstakes with prizes like mp3 players, gift cards and free music downloads. The grand prize is a trip for two, along with the five finalists, to see Camila play at the finale.
Reminder: deadline for bands is March 12; online voting begins March 21.
