LatinaLista — In a pleasant twist on the “American Dream,” a popular film festival entry spotlights the quest of a bored, music-loving, guitar-playing US Midwesterner as he leaves his rural small hometown in search of his dream — to become a mariachi.

Mariachi Gringo follows Edward who feels the answer to his future lies far from the quiet corn fields of his rural community and south of the border in the bustling city of Guadalajara, Mexico. There he hopes to learn the art of mariachi music and achieve what everyone tells him is an impossible dream.

Along the way, Edward encounters others with dreams and realizes that dreams are not impossible as long as one has ganas to see them through.
