University professors share their classes in new online initiative in the spirit that learning is free

LatinaLista — Learning doesn’t stop just because you’re out of school. In fact, the founders of a new online site are counting on that unquenchable thirst for knowledge to provide a new option to keep on learning — for free.

The Faculty Project is a new online site, in conjunction with Udemy, that doesn’t just deliver free classes; it offers those classes by recognized professors from some of the leading universities across the country.

The Professors involved have been recognized by their students and peers for their excellence in teaching or have shown a remarkable talent for educating. They are intelligent, diligent and care about their students. Most importantly, they are interested in sharing their knowledge to more people and creating a lasting mark in the community.

The classes are open enrollment, cost nothing but your time and interest, and the only requirement — an internet connection.

Those enrolled in the courses can use their computers, smart phones or tablets to see courses delivered via online video, PowerPoint, PDF, and articles on Udemy.com. Also, students in each course will have access to discussion boards where they can interact with each other and the instructor.

So far, 12 courses are offered. They include: “Modern China”, “Ancient Greek Religion”, “Classics of American Literature: T.S. Eliot”; “Perspectives on Contemporary American Democracies”, “Foundations of Business Strategy” and “Brazil for Beginners,” among others.

The only downsides to The Faculty Project are the limited selection of courses and you don’t get credit for taking them. Yet, if your only goal is to enrich your mind then there will be no problem in acing these courses.
