VidLit: Latino author taps into Youtube to share readings of his works with wider audience

Book readings are a great way for readers to meet and hear their favorite authors and for authors to gauge readers’ reactions to their works. Unfortunately, in these economic times, it’s not as often as it used to be that authors can travel around to bookstores or libraries and indulge their readers with a personal reading. Yet, where the economy has created a void the internet is creating opportunity.

Authors can now bypass traveling to book readings and reach even more readers, in even more remote areas, than ever before — via youtube. One author who has taken advantage of online video to share readings from his works is author Sergio Troncoso. In the latest installment of his online readings, Troncoso reads from his work Crossing Borders: Personal Essays. It’s a collection that bridges the chasm between the poverty of the border and the highest echelons of success in America.
