Country’s largest hunger strike underway in honor of immigrant rights

LatinaLista — Contrary to what is heard on cable talk shows, undocumented immigrants do have rights. Yet, the efforts of a small group have infected this country into thinking that undocumented immigrants are less than human.
Well, there are over 100 people doing something to change that kind of thinking.
Started on October 15, over 100 immigrants, movement leaders, day laborers, faith leaders, student leaders, grassroots organizers, musicians and artists, and people of conscience joined together to stage one of the largest hunger strikes in American history.

Los Angeles’ La Placita Olvera serves as the main encampment of the country’s biggest hunger strike.
Their goal, in addition to getting people to recognize that immigrants have rights too, is to get 1,000,000 people to sign a pledge to vote and take action for immigrant rights.
The hunger strike is called Fast for our Future and its permanent encampment is in Los Angeles at La Placita Olvera.
Some people have pledged to fast until one million sign the Pledge. The official fast will end on November 5.
If you don’t have the stomach to miss your favorite foods, then help the fasters and sign the pledge to make the next administration accountable in preserving the rights of immigrants.
