Tejano Act needs la raza’s votes to win Country Music Television’s music contest

LatinaLista — What does country music and Tejano music have in common?
For those of us who know — a lot!

The roots of Tejano music lie in country music, even if it is sung with bilingual or Spanish lyrics. That’s why it’s pretty exciting news that for the first time a Tejano act is a finalist in Country Music Television’s contest Music City Madness.
The group, The Electric Cowboys, (Grupo Vida) is one of 8 acts that survived from an initial field of 64 competitors. The purpose of the contest is to find the best unsigned country acts with the grand prize winner receiving “an all-expenses paid trip to Nashville to record an episode of the CMT online series Unplugged at Studio 330, a private audition with Warner Bros. Records A&R department and a mentoring session with country superstar Randy Travis.”
But the only way for the group to win is for la raza to vote for them!
To vote for the Electric Cowboys, go to the CMT voting site, and make sure to read the directions which are a little confusing.
But all you have to remember is the Electric Cowboys and their song “Because I love you.”
You can vote as often as you like but the deadline is at midnight Monday, November 24. The grand prize winner will be announced on December 16, 2008.
