Not much of a bird-watcher? I can’t blame you. But you may want to reconsider the hobby after a quick click through this year’s most exciting fashion collections.
The reason being that three of fashion’s influential houses sent out tops with nature scenes illustrated on the front, each of which features flying birds.
The landscape top first popped up at Jonathan Anderson’s first Loewe show for Spring 2015. Worn by Natalie Westling, the tee had a touch of the ironic about it, paired with high-waisted gray trousers. Then came a version from Chanel as part of its Paris-Salzburg Métiers d’Art 2015 collection. The French house’s iteration depicts airborne geese over a mountaintop, worn by Lindsey Wixson with a sky blue dress. Just earlier this week, Coach 1941 included a sweatshirt with a woodland scene on the front in its urban-cool Pre-Fall 2016 lineup, proving that naturalistic tableaux feel fresher than a typical logo or band T-shirt. And if three makes a trend, it’s bound to be a very avian-themed winter by our count.
