Pebble launches beta test for Timeline software on older watches

When Pebble launched its new line of smartwatches earlier this year, it also completely redesigned its software interface to make it easier to see what’s coming up and what just happened in your life. This new Timeline interface has only been available on the Pebble Time, Time Steel, and Time Round watches thus far. Pebble promised that it would be coming to its older Pebble and Pebble Steel watches, and today it’s taking its first public step toward that.

Starting today, owners of the Pebble and Pebble Steel can apply to beta test the new software on their devices. The beta is currently available for Android users and supports English, though Pebble says the final version will also support French, German, and Spanish as well. The new software not only brings the Timeline interface, but also lifts the eight-app restriction and lets users install as many as their watch’s memory will allow.

Pebble says that the final version of the software will be available for both Android and iOS later this month.
