DELAWARE — Rafael Orlando and La Exitosa station have been nominated for the Mar- coni award this year, as the Hispanic Personality and the Latin Station of the Year respectively.
The Marconi award is granted by the National Association of Broadcasters as an acknowledgement to commentators as well as to radio stations for their commitment with the communities where they serve.
NAB is the voice of over 14,000 radio stations all across the nation and a survey is conducted annually on each one of them in order to nominate those radio people that achieve a greater impact in the communities they serve.
This year, for the second time in a row, Rafael Orlando from La Exitosa of Milfrod DE, has been nominated for the category of Hispanic Personality of the Year.
“This is a great achievement for a broadcaster in recognition to the work he does while servicing the community,” said Rafael Orlando, “it is not only the music, but also the quality of the information, which is what is really evaluated to make of a broadcaster a personality.”
The also commentator Crystian Tijerino commented that only 5 radio stations are nominated in the entire country, “it is a great honor to be nominated to the category Hispanic Station of the Year” and adds, “being a part of it gives us great joy because it means we do contribute tenaciously and we are being noticed at a more choosier level.”
The nominees coincide with their view of the radio as a compromise, an opportunity to show their passion and love for their audience.
Here at El Tiempo Hispano we wish you the best of luck in the event to be held in Chicago on September 15th, when the NAB will announce the winners.
