New site hopes to be a bridge between Afro-Brazilians and Americans

LatinaLista — Did you know that 49.6 percent of Brazilians are black? Or that Brazil boasts the largest population of African descendants outside Africa?

These are just two of the facts visitors learn from a site that wants to educate Americans, especially African Americans, on the culture of Afro-Brazilians. Dubbed Afro-Brazilian.com, the site was launched in April by LaGrant Communications in the hopes of bridging two communities that share many commonalities.

Afro-Brazilian.com will celebrate Afro-Brazilian culture through the development of original content by highlighting the history, culture and historical struggles of Afro-Brazilians. It features facts on Afro-Brazilians, Brazilian events taking place in the US and Brazil, and will provide updates on Brazilian politics, the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games, among others.

The site’s content is still sparse but it provides a place to begin in understanding a country, and its people, that are coming into their own.
