Aztec Calendar coloring book brings dead language back to life

LatinaLista — For most Latino families, one way to keep a connection to the family culture is to speak Spanish in the home. Research shows that generationally-speaking, it gets harder and harder to do. Usually, people end up taking Spanish in school or watching Spanish-language TV to keep language skills up to par.

Yet, there is one language most Mexican-Americans and Mexicans themselves have lost — the Aztec language. However, a new coloring book titled, “Aztec Calendar Coloring Book/The 20 Day Symbols of the Aztec Calendar with their Names in Nahuatl, Español, and English” brings back the obscure language in a fun way for both kids and adults.

Published by San Antonio-based Aztlan Libre Press, the coloring book features 20 Aztec symbols representing: Crocodile, Wind, House, Lizard, Serpent, Death, Deer, Rabbit, Water, Dog, Monkey, Grass, Reed, Jaguar, Eagle, Buzzard, Movement, Flint, Rain, and Flower.

The Aztec Calendar Coloring Book can be ordered online with a credit card at www.aztlanlibrepress.com by using PayPal.

Regular price of the coloring book is $10 per book, plus $2.50 for shipping and handling; but right now you can get our Special Christmas Discount price of 2 books for $15, plus $2.50 for shipping and handling.
