LatinaLista — In Chile, students have been protesting an educational system they say reinforces the gross inequality that has existed in the country since the military dictator Pinochet allowed for schools to be privatized. The privatization has lead to an uneven quality of education that students say fuels delinquency and poverty.
The students are fighting for the government to take control of the educational system and allow everyone the right to a free public education. The students have become very organized and meet regularly to strategize and plan their protest marches. AlJazeera English news program, Fault Lines, follows the Chilean student movement during their fight for free education and equality.
