Dr. David A. Shirk of the University of San Diego conducts research on Mexican politics, U.S.-Mexican relations, and law enforcement and security along the U.S.-Mexican border. In this TedX lecture delivered at the San Diego TEDxChange lecture, Shirk reviews how intertwined Mexico’s history is with that of the U.S. and how it is not only important to the economy of the nation but its future as well.
As Shirk said, “What I can assure you. In the future, somebody, maybe it’s your son-in-law, maybe it’s your nephew or maybe it’s going to be your grandson, but somebody in your life is going to be Mexican, or a little bit Mexican and you’re going to have to figure out how to deal with that.”

It’s truly troubling that we have to have anybody explain this fact of life…
