Latino Family Holiday Gift Guide launches 2008 online edition

LatinaLista — It’s said, or at least Latina Lista says, that when things get tough financially, we almost always seem to retreat to the familiar — to that which makes us most comfortable or gives us a sense of home or identity.

There’s never a truer time for this feeling than around the Holidays, especially when we’re searching for that right gift to put under the tree.
Yet, finding products with a Latino twist can be challenging. Unless, of course, you happen to know about the Latino Family’s Holiday Gift Guide.
The offerings are limited but each gift category on the site: “La Familia,” “Los Amigos,” “Los Niños” and “Under $20” are stocked with hand-picked items that are Latino-inspired or Latino-made.
Some of the items include: “Feliz Navidad” infant creepers by Latin Baby; Frida Kahlo bracelets by KumKuLove; Día de los Muertos holiday tree ornaments by Casa Q Ornaments and “Body butter” lotion by BienElla.

Latina-inspired pocket mirrors is one of the products available in the Latino Family Holiday Gift Guide.
There are also bilingual children’s books, trendy Latino-inspired t-shirts for teens and traditional hand-woven items from a group of women working in a Chiapas, Mexico cooperative.
It goes without saying that it’s never too early to start shopping for the Holidays but it’s also never too late to choose that special gift that reflects a proud heritage.
The site will remain “open” until January 6, 2009 — the Day of the Magi (Three Kings) and the traditional day for exchanging gifts in many Spanish-speaking countries.
