Spotlight Non-profit: Acts of community service by youth are no random matters

LatinaLista.net — It’s never too soon for children to learn that they can make a difference in the world. In fact, it’s the mission behind a unique organization with the tagline:

Turning Service Projects into Opportunities to Empower Youth

RandomKid is a resource that makes itself available to young people to help them “impact” local and global problems by empowering them to do something.

Youth can choose to raise funds, organize collections or raise awareness through educational programs. How they change the world is up to them.

Children aren’t limited in what they can do. Some have started businesses that have answered environmental concerns. For example, one group of young entrepreneurs created the “anti-bottle.” It’s a bottle that can be rolled up and put in a pocket when empty and reused time and time again.

Still others created campaigns to raise money for a particular charity. What RandomKid does is provide the connections and legal, financial and educational help necessary for these young people to get their projects off the ground. Ten percent of the profits made by the projects are fed back into a community fund to help with new student projects.

RandomKid has worked with 12 million youth from 20 countries to provide aid on four continents. Together, RandomKid youth have funded water pumps, built schools, provided medical care, and all the while, fostered peace.

According to RandomKid, solving problems, wherever they may be are as simple as:

1.Select an issue.
2. Choose a solution.
3. Make it Happen.
