When Arizona’s State School Superintendent, Tom Horn, made it his mission to shut down Tucson’s Mexican American studies program, it triggered an outcry among Latino communities nationwide. The filmmakers of the film, Precious Knowledge, traveled to Tucson to chronicle an entire school year to document disenfranchised youth becoming engaged, informed and active Chicanos in a quest to change the state’s mind.
