LatinaLista — It won’t be long before kids are out of school for the summer and parents will be wondering not just how to keep them entertained but keep learning. One way could be through reading — bilingual stories.
Read Conmigo is a bilingual literacy program, sponsored by Infinity Auto Insurance, launched in 2011 that provides parents and their children with free bilingual books. The goal of the program is to instill a love of reading in children by giving them their own books. Ordinarily, only families who lived in certain states could receive hardcover books with everyone else signing up to receive electronic books by email.
Now, the Read Conmigo website has been revamped to let readers of all ages download the bilingual books. Once downloaded the books can be printed out and everyone can have their own books-in-hand to read over and over again.
To access the e-books, registration is required on the site. The free sign-up entitles subscribers to instant access to 16 eBooks on the site’s online library.
And that’s not all — the site also has free access to bilingual and downloadable coloring pages and educational games and activities. From ‘Word Search’ puzzles and flash card games for older kids to downloadable activity sheets for pre-schoolers, the site promotes a fun approach to literacy that kids won’t recognize as learning and parents watching their summer budgets will appreciate mucho!
