LatinaLista — When it comes to finding out about scholarships, job openings, professional development opportunities, etc., there’s been many places online with these kinds of information — if you knew where to look.
The problem is that, until now, there has been no single online destination where all this information was housed. Yet, two companies with a shared vision of helping Latinos advance joined forces to partner with the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics to create a virtual one-stop resource for Latinos.
Dubbed La Plaza, it’s a space where ideas can be heard.
La Plaza is a community where thousands of organizations with the goal of Hispanic advancement can share best practices; spread the word regarding initiatives and scholarships; listen to the needs of the community; and serve as a resource for users…Given its unique connection to the White House, users of La Plaza will have a direct link to top decision makers regarding programs, policies, and new ideas to implement within the United States.
Still a work in progress, the site offers news on education, White House Summit meetings, forums for site users to interact with one another, posts online educational materials and offers the opportunity of matching Latinos with money-worthy philanthropic causes.
La Plaza operates under the belief that education is the sure path for prosperity for the Hispanic community.
