Salvation Army takes their popular Angel Tree online

LatinaLista — If you’ve been out shopping, you might have noticed that the Salvation Army Christmas ringers are already out in full force with their red kettles. With such dismal results last year, it only makes sense that they get an early start this year.

Donations weren’t what they used to be for their Angel Tree donations either, where a person who might otherwise not get a gift at Christmas could always count on getting at least one through the Angel Tree.

This year, JC Penney is partnering with the Salvation Army in a unique way. In addition to the ringers posted at the entrances of JC Penney stores, the retailer has created an online version of the Angel Tree.

Called the Angel Giving Tree Online, visitors go to the site and enter the zip code of the area of the country they want their gift to go to. Then they pick the age and gender of the recipient.

The site then generates a list of all the people who meet the criteria entered. They list the age and gender of the person, what items they need and what gift they would like. An email is then sent to you with all the specifics of the recipient and directions on where to either mail your gifts or take them to a local Salvation Army site.

Step-by-step directions make it simple to donate gifts through the Angel Tree online site.

When asked why they were doing this, JC Penney released the following statement:

The Salvation Army and JCPenney are joining forces to help more children and seniors in need.

It’s safe to say that there are a lot more people who need angels this year.
