Campaign: SPOT – A Collaborative Search & Rescue App
2,400 people go missing every day. SPOT is an application that utilizes social networking to help find those who have gone missing.
The SPOT team saw that there was some unavoidable problems in every search effort; time and man power. In interviews with Local Law Enforcement and Government Agencies, they found a way to overcome these two problems.
First a way to track progress of those who are participating in a CAUSE and second a way to involve the community in an effort to find those who have gone missing.
The SPOT team wants to get this app into everyone’s hands who are willing to help aid in the search of those who have gone missing. In order for them to do that, they need to get more power behind the application.
That includes computer and manpower (which cost a few funds to obtain). They are also needing to raise awareness of SPOT so people know it is available. Funds will also be used to help market SPOT to the general public.
When a loved one goes missing, everyone’s life is impacted. By helping provide SPOT as a unique tool for willing citizens and law enforcement, funders will be helping those who are struggling.
Plans are being made to make this application available on every possible mobile device. It will also be a website for people to follow and provide help for those who have gone missing in any way they can.
The goal of the campaign is $5,000 and ends on November 22.
