Crowdfunder: Growing a new crop of farmers — First Generation Farmers’ Farm Incubator Program

Campaign: First Generation Farmers’ Farm Incubator Program!

The U.S. needs more young farmers!

The average American farmer is 58 years old and a quarter of farmers will retire by 2020. If more of the next generation are not trained as farmers, retiring farmers will not have successors to sell their land to and small farms will continue to disappear.

To help with this impending crisis, First Generation Farmers would like to create a farm incubator program where they will allow aspiring farmers to rent a small plot of their land.

In exchange, they will provide the young farmers with the resources, training, and support they will need so they can eventually generate their own revenue and emerge from the program with the skills required to be an independent farmer.

The campaign’s goal is $50,000 and ends on January 7, 2015.
