Campaign — Deetach – A 21st Century Dog Harness
Karina and Carlos Mendez are parents of Chico and Deeohgee, a Wheaten Terrier and Mini Schnauzer. In 2012, they started a little company and named it after them: Chico&DOG.
The idea for Chico&DOG started around 2009, when Chico was a little puppy. They bought collars and harnesses, but they all were rough and didn’t seem comfortable. They looked more like a product for farm animals, not for a loved house pet. So Carlos started drawing a bunch of ideas.
One was Deetach.
Deetach is a harness comprised of different layers of materials. The exterior is made of weather-resistant South American leather. The interior is lined with real suede for comfort.
The belt is made of 1/16th, thick hide leather stitched and riveted for safety. All metal parts are made of corrosion resistant stainless steel and the stitching is made of high strength nylon.
The harness comes with a built-in light, an attached pouch to carry dog snacks, and a detachable coat to keep dogs warm.
The campaign is a Kickstarter staff pick and ends on Sept. 18. The goal is $19,990.
