Reviewing today’s headlines, I see an unintentional theme emerging — religion. Each story dealing with religion also laments Trump’s actions or words regarding the topic. Whether it’s Trump vicious attacks against the bishop who delivered the homily at an inauguration prayer service and implored him to show mercy for marginalized communities or lifting the ban for ICE agents to enter churches to look for undocumented immigrants or a survey showing Americans don’t want their religious freedoms impeded, today’s America is far from a “Golden Age” and hearkens back to the dark times in history when persecutions were used to solidify power; Biden did his darnedest to lower/dismiss student debt, GOP aims to increase it; So, is it really a “once-in-a-lifetime” weather event for snow to fall in the Southeast, or does this signal a new normal?; and While wars, disease and natural disasters envelop our lives, opportunities still exist for ways to make lives better. Just ask Innocent James of Tanzania. Go beyond the headlines…
