Latin American Start-up Competition — Silicon Wasi: The startup battle begins in Peru

The competition aims to increase innovation and encourage startups in Latin America.

Silicon Wasi is back for another startup wars this March. Startups from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru will be battling it out in Universities across Lima March 25-29.

Silicon Wasi is a Latin American startup competition taking place in Peru. As well as hosting the event, Peru will also be entering five startups in the competition.

Participants already competed in their own countries in November 2013, to then send the winners to Peru for the final rounds. The startups will battle each other to determine which will take home the title of ‘Inca Startup.’

Gonzalo Velasco, CEO of Taund, an online social agenda, and winner of Silicon Wasi 2013 announces that the event will be dog eat dog, or more specifically, startup eat startup.

“Silicon Wasi is product against product, technology against technology, start up against startup,” he says in his video invitation to join the competition.

He says that there are no powerpoints or infographics – that it’s quite simply a ‘startup wars’ and that it’s the place to be if you want to get a look at new technology created by Peruvians and Latin Americans.

Silicon Wasi tookplace for the first time last year with Peruvian and Colombian entrepreneurs facing off against each other.

The competitions, or battles, will take place in the following universities from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.:

March 25: University of Lima
March 26: USIL
March 27:PUCP
March 29: UPC
