LatinaLista — Recently, a panel discussion on the The Status of Latinos in America: Challenges and Opportunities was broadcast on C-Span.
It was moderated by Henry Cisneros and included panelists: Aida Alvarez, Former Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration; Lorraine Cortes-Vasquez, NYS Secretary of State; Arturo Madrid, Murchison Distinguished Professor of Humanities, Trinity University; Maria “Cuca†Robledo Montecel, President and CEO, Intercultural Development Research Association; Antonio R. “Tony†Sanchez, Chairman of the Board/CEO, Sanchez Oil and Gas Corporation; Richard Tapia, Mathematics Professor and Maxfield Oshman Professor of Engineering; Solomon “Sol†Trujillo, CEO, Telstra Corporation, Sydney, Australia and Ralph de la Vega, President & CEO, ATT Mobility.
The panelists focused on four issues: economic wellbeing, education, health and electoral participation. Intertwined with these issues were also the issues of gender, immigration and leadership.
Though the discussion is too long for one sitting — about 2 hours, it’s an interesting dialogue that deserves to be heard.
