For the next 10 months, we’re all to be subjected to nonstop political ads filled with promises, half-truths and outright lies. Unfortunately, too many people have surrendered their common sense to put their trust into political leaders whose campaigns are totally based on not just discrediting their opponents but lying about them — and media does a lackluster job of challenging those politicians. As a result, the consequences can be catastrophic for trust in the electoral system. Evidence of that kind of behavior can be seen in a number of political polls that have Trump ahead of Biden and stats showing that Black, Latino and young voters are actually abandoning Biden. They may be mad at Biden because of the economy or Israel or maybe their favorite sports team lost.
